“The MARC program has helped to steer my path into biomedical research. Through mentorship and encouragement to network, I discovered a passion for molecular pharmacology research. I hope to discover small molecules for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, and to one day own a science company that will patent and distribute my discoveries in this field.”

“Being a MARC trainee has been a truly invaluable experience. Because of the MARC program I have been given the opportunity to conduct research at my dream institution and present national conferences. These experiences have helped me begin to fine tune the skills needed to matriculate into a competitive MD/PhD at a research intensive institution. Through the MARC program I have gained insights and made connections that will hopefully endure well into my future career.”

“The MARC program provides me with the opportunity to receive quality training, mentoring, and networking. I look forward to receiving hands-on experience in biomedical research, as well as the support needed to present my research at conferences. Through MARC, I plan on developing the skills needed to enter a competitive graduate school. My ultimate goal is to obtain a doctorate in biomedical sciences and work on the frontline of new discoveries and developments.”

"The MARC program affords me opportunities that I would not have access to otherwise. Through prep courses, symposiums, and research opportunities I am better prepared to be an ideal graduate school candidate. When I graduate from Hampton, I plan to pursue an MD PhD in immunology and conduct translational research at a leading research institution while being a positive role model for other young black women interested in STEM."

"My hope is that the MARC program will prepare me for a career in research in the field cellular and molecular biology, computational biology, or bioinformatics. My ultimate career goal is to be the PI of a lab or to be a college professor (or both). After I graduate I plan on entering a PhD or MD/PhD program in one of the listed fields.

A personal goal I have is to find a way to bridge my interest in computers and my interest in science and make a career out of it."
